The richness of garnets set in a silver mounting exudes opulence! Metallic and silk threads highlight the deep burgundy of the garnets, placed against a Pewter canvas background that mimics a silver setting, further accented with glass seed beads and bugle beads.
Garnet Opulence includes several shapes of Amadeus stitches, Jessicas, and crescents, with waffle stitches, bound cross and cashmere background stitches.
Teaching objectives:
- Understand the process of the stitches that allows ease of stitching without constant reliance on the diagrams and instructions
- Explore different thread textures to develop the design
- Learn different techniques for anchoring threads to begin a length, and for ending a length
Student Objectives:
- Confidence in working with various thread textures
- Develop enthusiasm for twisty stitches
Proficiency Level: Advanced Intermediate
Design size:108 x 106 stitches, about 6” square on 18 ct. Mono deluxe canvas
Kit contents/Cost: $175. The kit consists of a 12” x 12” pewter canvas with taped edges; Gloriana Stranded Silk Floss, Au Ver a Soie, Caron Collection, Edmar Iris, Radiance, ThreadworX, Sundance Beads
Stitcher to provide: 12”x 12” (2 pair) stretcher bars and tacks or staples to attach the canvas to stretcher bars. Highlighter and usual stitching supplies including light, laying tool, frame stand or weight, magnifier and extension cord if needed.
